From the Aspen Airport: Eisner Wedding
Posted on August 20, 2008
Hello From Colorado! I’m sitting here stuck in the Aspen Airport after shooting a wedding here this weekend. Since I cant do much at the moment. I thought I’d take a moment to make a much needed updated entry to my blog….
I was here second shooting for the only photographer i still second shoot with ( Joe Buissink: He practically wrote the book on wedding photography.) We were shooting the wedding of Terena and Anders Eisner. Michael Eisner’s Son (Yes, Dreamworks)
The wedding was very beautiful. The bride even arrived in a horse and carriage. it was held on the Eisner estate in a meadow near a pond. Wow very big. No road signs. would never have found it, if we weren’t following someone.
No snow here at the moment. although it did hail when we landed. the weather is in the upper 60s. don’t really need a jacket. They tented the ceremony since they expected it might snow, hail or rain. it was a good tenting job, although it would have been sooo much better photographically with out a tent in the middle of a meadow.
As far as gossip… Sorry I don’t have any. Michael Eisner seamed really nice as did everyone in the family. No drama. Although I hear the videographers were trapped in a mudslide??!!! and missed the wedding entirely! Thankfully they had also hired a local video guy and everything went off smoothly anyway. The bride was fine, didn’t freak out. a perfect day.
I had 3 people come up to me to tell me how attractive i was and that I should be a model or an actor. (even with my “Mountain man” beard) Good crowd to hear it in! One old lady, one girl (cute with her boyfriend), and a guy who made sure to let me know he was straight before telling me.. he was foreign too so its more ok anyway. I never know how to take the complement. I’m sooo happy to get them.
I had hoped to go on a gondola ride which was outside of our place. but I didn’t have time. Wow the mountains were awesome. i would have loved to get a few more personal landscape shots for my walls.
We stayed at the “St Regis”. That was very nice. I think they spent $600 a night for us. (we even had separate rooms) Very posh. A nice treat… since I’m planning a week long camping trip in the desert in a week with only a tent, water, provisions and lots of dust and dirt. No phone, very limited power, no laptop, nothing. (The only “vacation” I take all year.. and I have a press pass to be shooting the entire time… is that still a vacation?) Sorry got off on another tangent.
Anyway looking forward to being home. Soon! as soon as they get me out of this airport. Help! The mechanic for the plane isn’t answering his phone so they are flying one in from Denver. WHAT!!! YES!! thats what I said. (Frontier Airlines if your interested) But I’m thankful.. I’d rather not be on a broken plane.
I’ll try to post more often. been swamped thankfully and next year is booking up so well! Thank God I love what I do.
Here is just one pict from the wedding of like 10000 really really great ones.
