Today was a fun day photographing this engagement session at Venice beach. Since it was a Sunday, we started the day off early at 8am to avoid the beach crowd. I love shooting really early. Having less crowds was so helpful for photographing an engagement session in such a normally busy location like Venice beach.
But… the earlier it is… the cloudier. The mist usually doesn’t burn off until later in the day. Personally, I like clouds. We don’t see them much in the LA area and every once in the while they are nice. Plus parking is much easier and cheaper that time of day. I got in the beachfront lot for $5 and by the time I left, rates had skyrocketed up to $15.
I’ve learned many helpful tips when photographing at beaches, like always bring a towel, a change of clothes, extra set of shoes and socks and a bottle of water to wash off in case you can’t find a fountain. I rarely leave a beach session without getting at least a little wet and certainly dirty.
